Imran Khan’s Attacks on Institutions: Bilawal Bhutto’s Critique
Islamabad Bilawal Bhutto, Chairman of the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP), has accused Imran Khan, the founder of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), of undermining various institutions to advance his own political agenda and seek favorable outcomes in legal matters.
In a statement made during a National Assembly session, Bilawal Bhutto criticized Imran Khan for using tactics of abuse and hatred to influence politics. He asserted that in the recent by-election in Rahim Yar Khan, the politics of division and animosity were decisively defeated. Bhutto emphasized that the elected representatives of PPP, who reached their positions through democratic votes, are steadfast and unyielding in the face of adversity.
Bhutto noted that the residents of Rahim Yar Khan had shown their disapproval of Khan, highlighting that the district’s electorate rejected the politics of hate by voting against the PTI candidate. He underscored that the people of Pakistan did not support conspiratorial politics at that time.
Addressing recent developments, Bhutto condemned what he described as an attack on democracy, attributing it to Imran Khan’s efforts to undermine institutional integrity for personal and political gain. He called for an investigation into Khan’s recent statements, questioning their accuracy and implications.
Further, Bhutto criticized Imran Khan for disrespecting the current Chief Justice and making political allegations against the serving Army Chief. He urged that if Khan’s actions are not addressed, it is the responsibility of opposition leaders or party chairpersons to provide clarification.
