New Announcement from PTA
Islamabad—The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has announced that it will begin blocking mobile SIMs registered under the identity cards of deceased individuals starting October 15. This decision aims to streamline the registration process and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
Transfer of SIMs Required
According to the PTA, all SIMs issued under the computerized national identity card (CNIC) numbers of deceased persons must be transferred to the names of living relatives immediately. The authority has urged users of these SIMs to take prompt action to avoid service disruption.
Required Documentation
To facilitate the transfer, users must provide the original death certificate of the deceased, along with an official certificate proving their relationship to the deceased. These documents should be presented at the nearest PTA franchise. Once the documentation is verified, the franchise will proceed to transfer the SIM to the living relative’s name.
Importance of Compliance
This initiative underscores the importance of maintaining accurate records in telecommunications and aims to prevent misuse of SIMs. The PTA encourages all affected individuals to act quickly to ensure their mobile services remain uninterrupted.
